2014 Conference a Success!

The Caucus on Homelessness events at the 142nd Annual American Public Health Association (APHA) Meeting and Exhibition in New Orleans, LA were a great success! At the November 2014 meeting, CoH offered 40 scientific presentations (20 oral and 20 poster), a site tour of the New Orleans HCH clinic, and raised $1,100 for the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic at our first ever social hour and fundraising event. The site tour was highlighted in the January 2015 issue of APHA’s The Nation’s Health. Read the article here.

In our efforts to include local communities in our activities, CoH invited representatives of the New Orleans HCH clinic to open up one of the oral sessions. Wendy Hernandez is a former patient of the clinic; she shared her experiences entering and rising out of homelessness with the help of clinic staff and outreach workers.
